Vittorio Brodmann paints. Painting has a reputation for showing things beyond a picture, things that happen within the artist and subsequently manifest themselves on the canvas. Brodmann combines this sum of gestures called painting with comedy and slapstick. Against this background, Brodmann works with our expectations towards painting, confronting them with an exaggeration of the ordinary by featuring fantastic characters as protagonists.
Vittorio Brodmann, born in Ettingen in 1987, lives and works in Vienna. In recent years his works have been shown, among other places, at the Leslie Fritz Gallery, New York (2013), the CEO Gallery, Malmö (2013), the Galerie Gregor Staiger, Zurich (2012), at Graff Mourge d’Algue, Genevea (2012), the Halle für Kunst Lüneburg (2012), the Kunsthalle Bern (2012), the Kunsthal Charlottenburg, Copenhagen (2011), the Kunsthaus Glarus (2010), the Galerie 1m3, Lausanne (2010), and at New Jerseyy, Basel (2009).
