LIONEL ESTÈVE
Impudique
26 June - 30 August 2014

Albert Baronian is pleased to announce the sixth solo exhibition by Lionel Estève entitled Impudique.

Lionel Estève’s work sits at a crossroads between drawing, sculpture and installation. Informality and fragility, which are characteristic of his pieces, awaken our perception of an infinite reality by revealing a palpable, almost tactile space. His work plays with space, colors and sensory perception.
Through glass paintings, embroidery works on fabrics, painted organza silk works and photographs, Lionel Estève will materialize a few waves and vibrations, hoping to give birth to several emotions.

“ Is it naïve to think that life and work can influence each other reciprocally? Is it to bring more eroticism into their lives that so many artists have painted nudes? Can an abstract image be sensual? Does it make more sense to show modesty than to talk about silence? By showing what conceals, do we see what is hidden? Is it a political act to show photographs of naked women hiding behind their hair? These questions were in my mind throughout the process of creating these works and formed the motivation for the exhibition. I do not think of the works on show as answers, just as the reflection of these questions.”
