JOHAN ZETTERQUIST
"Take Me Off the Endangered Species List"
Andréhn-Schiptjenko has the pleasure of announcing Johan Zetterquist ́s second solo exhibition at Andréhn-Schiptjenko.
The exhibition opens Thursday January 11, at 5 – 8 pm.
Since a few years back, Johan Zetterquist has been working with a series of works entitled Proposals for Public Art.
Texts, drawings, sculptures and models present thought-provoking, anarchistic and often absurd proposals for public artworks. Zetterquist attacks the system from within and suggest a new urban landscape, questioning our ideas on what is acceptable and what is not.
This is the second time that Johan Zetterquist exhibits parts from this ongoing project at Andréhn-Schiptjenko. With works like Proposal No 13 Sonic Boom, A Proposal to Have Fighter Jet Airplanes Breaking the Sound Barrier Simultaneously and Proposal No 5 Partially Buried Very Tall Buildings, he continues to challenge our notions about the public space ́ limitations.
Johan Zetterquist is born 1968 and lives and works in Gothenburg. His works has been presented in shows at Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts, San Fransisco, Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin and Invaliden1, Berlin, to name a few. Recently, Proposal No 17, Very Tall Parking House was finalised in Jönköping, Sweden. The realisation of a public artwork proposing a public artwork.
