Pertti Kekarainen is one of the most successful international names in Finnish photographic art.
In recent years, he has held solo exhibitions at the Stadtgalerie Kiel, the Villa Oppenheim in Berlin, the Galerie Confluence in Nantes, the Galerie Robert Drees in Hamburg and the Johyun Gallery in Seoul.

He has also participated in joint exhibitions at the Pori Art Museum in Finland, the Nieuw Dakota Museum in Amsterdam, the Kunstmuseum of Wolfsburg, the Daegu Photo Biennial and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Kekarainen' works have been obtained for the collections of international museums, the most important of these being the Metropolitan Museum of Art, along with leading collections of international corporations and major private collections in Europe and North and South America. He has also produced significant commissioned works in Finland and Sweden.

This present exhibition displays works from Kekarainen's TILA (SPACE) series that have not been seen previously in Finland, along with completely new work. Pertti Kekarainen addresses in a lyrical fashion space, its properties and variety of interpretations. In their moods, the works approach painting, its ability to create spatial illusion and visual ambiguity. With reference to Kekarainen's sovereign perception of space it is easy to understand that he is by training a sculptor, who now works with the means of photography and painting.

Galerie Anhava will also display work by Pertti Kekarainen at Art Basel (14 –17June 2012).
