ALL TOGETHER NOW...
24 August 2012 – 14 August 2013

Do we believe in community today? How do we share the world? Is it our ability to creatively produce new communities and rituals that makes us human? Do we disintegrate without the other, dry up and become pure nature, a bony caricature of a human being? ‘Community’ refers to the way several people share something in particular, and it is often associated with a shared stance and mutual solidarity.
And what about art? Do many artworks only arise through the social relationship, when we sense ourselves, one another and the work? The 17 contemporary works in the exhibition from ARKEN’s collection raise these issues and zoom in on our notions of what the concept of ‘community’ covers. The works help us to think about the human community and show us the hypermodern individual, the animal, and nature.
