SAKIA EDENS
The ages of metals and beyond
28 March - 16 May 2015

Galerie Nicola von Senger is pleased to present a solo show by the Swiss artist Saskia Edens.

The basic theme in Saskia Edens’ works are the energies, gestures and transforma(c)tions of the creative process itself. The principal extensive property of her art is entropy’s distribution in space: in a first step, something is heated, or cooled, or imprinted; and then in a second step, entropy is allowed to finish the work.

What the artist makes visible are relationships between form and movement, and between form and time. Her works demand to be thought as form-movement (i.e. movement as form) and formtime (i.e. time as form), and less along the categories of drawing, sculpture, performance, and video.

Galerie Nicola von Senger is pleased to present Edens’ workin-progress Dessins thermiques (Zürich version), in which the artist uses thermic differences, rather than pigments, to draw out wall-figures which entropically fade away. The video work is accompanied by drawings on canvas, the artist’s ‘dance’ rehearsals for drawing invisibly. Also exhibited are Dance of the Chromosomes, a found-footage video work from 2014, and works in tin from the artist’s contact-imprint series: everyday objects reverse-shadowed into their metal other.
