DOWER MONICA
The Swimming Pool Series
21 June 2016 — 7 August 2016
Laboratorio Arte Alameda presents the exhibition The Swimming Pool Series by Monica Dower.
The project of Monica Dower consists of a series of four multidisciplinary portraits realized in a swimming pool, combining video, photography, drawing and watercolor. The works include both the image of the characters and their illusory projections, utopian or metaphorical, the same that are interpreted by the artist’s imagination.
The portraits are of artists and intellectuals whose verbal, gestural or performative speech deserves to be boosted by the translation in the art’s territory operated by the artist. Inside the water starts a process of appropriation-collaboration from both sides, that continues in the installation.
