FLORIN KOMPATSCHER
Fluss ohne Ufer
9 October - 1 November 2015
Florin Kompatscher’s exhibition Fluss ohne Ufer (River with no Banks) gives insight into a diverse oeuvre, which evidences the artist’s extensive knowledge of design and composition but also of technology, and documents his practical artistic skills at the very highest level. Kompatscher’s painting is not about creating mimetic reproductions. Instead, it is the result of the artist’s meticulous debate with the medium as such, the elementary questions of which – in combination with evident authenticity – are disgorged in pure painting, as matter in various aggregate states.
Kompatscher’s paintings oscillate between their viewers’ consciousness and subconscious, revealing precise formal creations among spheric colour combinations in the dynamic, conflicting field of the duality of plane surface and space.
Florin Kompatscher, born in Bolzano, Italy, has been living in Berlin since 2003.
