JÖRG MANDERNACH
24 January - 16 February 2014
Jörg Mandernach uses his own materials for his work but also images that originate from a different context – already conveyed in different media. Mandernach is a collector whose working method is predominantly one of collage and montage. He experiments with the existing material and transfers it by means of drawing or painting into a new referential system of form and content, in which the images and elements regain an entirely original, often surprising character.
In Künstlerhaus Bethanien Mandernach is showing a selection of large-format cut-out silhouettes under the heading mutabor, and transposes them into a situative installation on the spot, employing sticky tape to echo elements of the space drawings. An animation film will also be shown, taking up the leitmotif of mutabor – a quotation from the famous fairy-tale Caliph Stork.
