波(Pa)-Togetherness in life
The PICAF 2000 set 'Pa(波)-Togetherness in life' as its main theme, seeking to discover new forms of life and art, based on the openness and dynamics of the city Busan. The 'Pa(波)' here carries the meaning of direction toward novelty and electronic energy as well as the image of waves. 'Togetherness in life' represents the universal desire of human beings to shake off the heavy yoke, which signifies the divisions and animosities of the 20th century. Thus the main theme of the PICAF 2000 embodies the new spirits and modes of art and the new spirits of life, in which not only humans but also things and objects take care of and save each other, based on the respect for their value.
