What began with "JUMP", its approximate transpositions and failed translations, carrying on with "Vocales" and the construction of multiple dissonant voices, and pushed further with Liz Magic Laser’s "Discours primal" and the authoritarian or liberating art of public speaking, the season of Chants de distorsion will come to a close with a finale that brings together the different approaches to the yearly theme in its connection with the territory. Theme here is intended in its musical sense, like a motif that runs throughout all the projects developed for the center.
The expression "reality distortion field" (champ de distorsion de réalité in French) refers to the charismatic power of the cofounder of Apple, Steve Jobs, who apparently could always manage to influence even the most unwilling of his colleagues. It is said that a magnetic field distorts the perception of anyone approaching it. While the featured works of art indeed provoke that modification of reality, they share this particularity, their songs (chants, homophone of champs, "fields" in French) are constructed in the very connection that links them to whoever is listening.

Echoing "Discours primal", the Liz Magic Laser show running at the center from 13 May to 30 July 2017, the finale for these songs of distortion will be reverberating up and down the routes of Etampois, and the Arpajonnais, the valleys of the Orge and the Yvette, sounding multiple voices, a hubbub, a stammering, and other invented tongues. Translations, transmissions and interpretations remain at the heart of the invited artists’ concerns. This includes Lidwine Prolonge, who is presenting a long-term performance that has infiltrated daily life. While some continue to pursue their collecting in the local area (Coline Sunier & Charles Mazé, Angélique Buisson, and Géraldine Longueville), several workshops make it possible to approach artistic practice by doing. Like an itinerate cinema, evening film screenings and discussions in connection with the issues faced by the venues at our disposal are also scheduled for a number of different spaces.

*Works from the frac île-de-france's collection.
