ISA GENZKEN
Galleries 2 & 3

Isa Genzken (born in 1948), one of the most respected artists of her generation, has selected a compelling group of paintings and sculptures in response to showing with Hilma af Klint. Her interests in photography, painting and architecture are combined in her strangely evocative 'MLR' paintings (1992). The geometry and gestural abstraction is predated in Hilma af Klint’s paintings. Also on display are Genzken's idiosyncratic 'Beach Hut' sculptures, in which she deals with leisure and the architecture of everyday life. Please note that in Isa Genzken’s Beach Hut series there is one work of explicit sexual nature, although this is not representative of the exhibition or of the series.
