The work of Sven Johne (born 1976 in Rügen, Germany; lives and works in Berlin) combines archival and conceptual strategies to create an expanded form of documentary film and photography. He interlaces reality and fiction in a variety of subtle ways that often have a biographical connotation. The central themes of the work are his reflections on history and an investigation of specific places' social significance.
