Suzanne Déry and G. Küng began thinking about a project at CCA’s Intermedia as a chance to engage in a true collaboration. They are interested in hybridising their respective visions and seeing what happens when control is acquiesced to each other.
The collaborative work will become a body, or pieces of a body (human or animal or mythical). The artists foresee an imaginary character, perhaps a kind of avatar, or emissary that can act on their behalf. This character could be an extension of themselves, neither a Frankenstein nor a goddess but somewhere in between.
Suzanne Déry and G. Küng have devised a process where action and reaction generate the unexpected and deviations are anticipated and welcome. Each exchange is influenced by the last, building the body piece by piece. The Intermedia project space functions as a platform or stage for this exchange. In the end, the artists imagine putting together the pieces of what will become a sprawled-out Giantess, challenging the boundaries of the room. The visitor will navigate around this body-offering, which exudes the energy endowed with it.
