Keren Cytter’s video is based on the true story of a young boy who, consumed by jealousy, shot the lover of his father. Cytter is not simply narrating the story, but focusing on the psychological moments of fear, rage and sorrow which she intensifies through the medium of cinema. Keren Cytter has chosen two of the most brilliant German actors in the field of psychology and melodrama, Bernhard Schütz and Carolin Peters, to perform in her film.

Keren Cytter was born in 1977, Tel Aviv, Israel. She studied visual art in Avni Institute for Art, Tel Aviv and today, lives and works in Berlin. Recalling amateur home-movies and video diaries, her films and videos are made of re-composed elements of the everyday, of impressions, memories, imaginings, desires and dreams.

Showcasing a diverse range of artists’ film and video, Reflections on Black is an exciting new programme at CCA throughout 2010. Screening works by international artists including the acclaimed Keren Cytter, and by those closer to home such as Glasgow based filmmakers Laura Aldridge and Conal McStravick, Reflections on Black presents a rare opportunity to engage with the best in contemporary artists’ film. Each film will be screened on a loop from Tuesday to Saturday, 12 – 5pm, during the last week of each month.
