Ne vous inquiétez pas / Don`t worry
29 September - 7 October 2012
The Strasbourg tobacco factory opened in the central Krutenau district in 1850. In June 2008, the factory management announced that the facility would be closed down on 30 June, 2010. Some workers had worked there for more than thirty years, sometimes succeeding their parents or grandparents. For all of them, a part of their personal history was brutally wiped out. Don`t worry consists of a series of photographs archiving the relentless and methodical progress of the closure of a factory. A 35-minute film was shot simultaneously, a video repertoire of the last work activities carried out by the workers before being finally dismissed. This project shows viewers an event that took place in complete confidentiality. Showing these last actions one after another is a form of almost invisible silent protest, they succeed one another tirelessly as if to signify their refusal to stop or accept their demise.
