JANIE GEISER - Object Permanence // LEWIS KLAHR - Kiss the Rain
15 March - 12 April 2014
The pairing of Janie Geiser and Lewis Klahr’s film work together illustrates the similarities in their practices. Both make films using shot as well as found images and footage that involve extensive collaging. As one layer gives way to another, new images emerge that create complex juxtapositions adding to the sophisticated narrative. Both artists make short films that are quasi-narratives that meditate on media culture, appropriation and contemporary society. In addition to the continual screening of the films, selected stills filling the gallery walls illustrate isolated moments in the continuum of time (China Art Objects, Culver City).
