This summer the Centre international d'art et du paysage and Peuple et Culture Corrèze are jointly hosting ''What Goes Unseen'', a double exhibition by the Rado group presented at the Eglise Saint-Pierre in Tulle and on Vassivière Island.
The double exhibition ''What Goes Unseen'' is the outcome of a research residency carried out by the artists in the Tulle region since June 2011: a cooperative investigation into the everyday existence of local residents and workers. Instigated and backed by Peuple & Culture Corrèze, the residency was commissioned by the Centre National des Arts Plastiques. To help with the preparation of the exhibitions, the group called on acoustician Kerwin Rolland.
A wide range of works – photographs, drawings, videos, sculptures, sound installations –give expression to the artists' perception of the Corrèze region in terms of use of resources (wood, water), energy distribution networks, waste sorting, urban regeneration and other activities:
'We opted for looking at the territory in the light of technical networks including energy, waste and transport: usually invisible, even though they structure our everyday life, these networks are the subject of more and more debate and conflict. There was a documentary challenge here: how to use video, drawing, photos and sculptures to reveal hidden or overlooked realities, while at the same time pointing up unseen resources? A number of different situations emerged from our questions and investigations.'
