Wüstenrot Foundation Promotional Awards for Documentary Photography 2005/2006
01.12.07 to 13.01.08
Postfuhramt
Opening 30.11.07 . 7 pm
Telling stories of foreign people and places, the photographic works of Verena Jaekel, Linn Schröder, Yvonne Seidel and Tobias Zielony were created on voyages of discovery into real lifeworlds that these young artists embarked on with the help of the Wüstenrot Foundation Promotional Awards for Documentary Photography.
In existence since 1994, the Wüstenrot Foundation’s Promotional Program for Documentary Photography directs its support to photographers who employ contemporary means to explore themes of social reality and in so doing, to reflect on what defines photography’s representational character. Every two years, in close cooperation with the Folkwang Museum in Essen, the Wüstenrot Foundation confers four awards of equal value on graduates of German universities. These Promotional Awards provide each of the recipients with financing for a new project upon completion of their studies and offer them the opportunity to present their work to the public in both an exhibition and a catalogue.
