World Gallery World presents World Bacteria World
25 January - 7 March 2020
World Gallery World is a multidisciplinary gallery for international art. Works of art are found by searching Instagram and then reposted, selecting from the many artists that post their work in the app on a daily basis. World Bacteria World brings together a selection of these works pinned to paintings by artists Horacio Alcolea Crespo and Georgia Gardner Gray, respectively. Through World Gallery World, hundreds of artists were contacted on Instagram to create original artworks using the theme of ‘bacteria’. Some of these original artworks were used, while others were not, based on their artistic merits. Spreading across the canvases like a growth, they call into question accep- ted heirarchies of inside vs. outside, kitsch vs. cringe, and self expression vs. identity. Bacteria, unable to make these distinctions, takes its own organic shape.
