Eduarda Rosa (Caldas da Rainha, 1949) has had an atypical artistic career. A graduate in Pharmacy, with a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Imperial College, London, she enjoyed a long teaching career at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon, which she brought to a close in 2005. Five years earlier, she had embarked on a prolonged period of artistic training, above all at the Ar.Co school, which she completed in 2012. She subsequently hold her first individual exhibition, Trans Formas, in November 2014, at Espaço AZ, in Lisbon, followed a year later by GTF.des, at the Museu Geológico. From her academic training and professional activity, the artist had inherited the discipline of concentrated work and a clear inclination towards systematisation, which, in her creative process, are combined with an intuitive approach to a constantly expanding world of forms (figures), compositions, colours and materials. Some of her best work consists of drawings-collages in which a certain form is filled with an accumulation of small figures cut out of old books (dictionaries and atlases, and books on zoology, botany or medicine, among others), mostly dating from the late nineteenth century and the early decades of the twentieth century. This and so much more can be seen at this exhibition.
