THE TWINS
A Visual Journey by Gisela Getty & Jutta Winkelmann
1 April – 22 Mai, 2011
Extended until May 29

With the help of exceptional photographies, the exhibition shows the lives of twin sisters Jutta Winkelmann and Gisela Getty, who are prosumed to be the ideal embodiment of the zeitgeist of the 70s and 80s era. The sisters from Kassel were groupies, muses, goddesses. They met with celebrities like Bob Dylan, Sean Penn, Dennis Hopper and Roman Polanski, who were captured by the sisters in exciting photographs.

These photos were created all over the world; they are images of a female, sometimes erotic self-discovery; a revue of images by two modern heiresses of todays generation of girls, who is always looking to reinvent itself. A direct line seems to run from these pre-girls to the new feminist movement of one Charlotte Roche. At the same time, the images could be seen as evidences of an early german-american pop-culture.
