Once Upon a Time
08 Jul - 09 Oct 2011
Fables, myths, and fairy tales have long allowed cultures to explore wondrous aspects of their world. As times and contexts shift, so do these stories grow and evolve in the imaginations of their audiences. These traditions have been embraced by artists who use the mediums of film and video to conceive new folklore or adapt older tales to reveal often overlooked elements of more recent history.
Once Upon a Time features a selection of video installations and single-channel works from the collection of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum that explore this practice in contemporary art.
