GUILLAUME PINARD

Guillaume Pinard: „In all my movies there is a battle beetween the characters and the space, between the movement and the frame. I wanted to resume this situation with a very simply concept. I wanted to make a kind of visit in an abandoned architecture (there is many referencies about the modernism from le corbusier until the bunkers). I wanted that the spectators could visit a space without any activities exept by the way of many little movements (colours, electronic lights, animals, etc.). As if the space had a life like an organism, a body. Each sequence is a box where we can project our phantasms and our angst. When I saw the image of the garage with the cables and the industrial door, I immediately imagined that I would like to show this work. For me the garage is typical of what I call „the pathologic space“. I mean a space which seems telling us: „I am just a functional space“, but where we understand „You won‘t escape from me. Never !“. So „Primalab“ is a fantastic movie in the tradition of „the haunting“ movie of Robert Wise, where a haunted house is the hero and an absolut danger for the mental health of its visitors. Of course„Primalab,“ there are no devils, except in the story of some of those architectures and in the brain of the spectators may be.“
