Galleria Emi Fontana is glad to present Foster, You’re DeadRirktit Tiravanija third solo show, a new project for the gallery space.
Rirkrit Tiravanija was born in Buenos Aires in 1961. He lives and works among Chang May, New York and Berlin.
His work was presented in Italy for the first time at Aperto, Biennale di Venezia 1993 where he caught the attention of the public preparing noodles with his cooking equipment settled inside a canoe. His first show at Galleria Emi Fontana in Milano was 1996.By now Tiravanija is recognized as most important rapresentative of interactive art connected with the politics of cultural identity.
The work of Rirkrit Tiravanija has been shown in prestigious exhibition contexts, including Manifesta, Rotterdam (1996); MOMA, New York (1996); Sculpture Projects, Munster (1997); Migros Museum, Zurich (1998); Sydney Biennial (1998); Centre Pompidou, Paris (1998); Museum Ludwig, Koln (1999); the XLVIII Venice Biennial (1999); Stдdtisches Museum Abteiberg, Munchengladbach (2002); Secession, Wien (2002); Galerie fur Zeitgenossische Kunst, Leipzig (2003); Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam (2004); Musйe d’art moderne de la Ville de Paris (2005); Whitney Biennial 2006, New York (2006).
