GERGŐ KOVÁCH
Tolera
22 October – 16 November 2014
Kovách graduated from the Hungarian Fine Art Academy in 1998. His sculptures are derived from the peculiar blend of human, animal and mythological creatures, they are funny, ironic and meditative at the same time. Mouse like animal balancing on a scale, flaunted man posing like a moviestar, fighter growing a dinosaur tale, atlantes carrying shopping bags, broken and remade China - just a few pieces from his latest series. Like his earlier works, a kind of emblematic dichtonomy characterizes these new works. Monumental and tiny, purfoam and bronz, dream and reality, cute and scary appears together, as if all of Kovách s gestures, like the title of the exhibit, were clear references Hungary s present state of mind.
