The exhibition in the basement of the Museum Folkwang presents the works that have come out of the Documentary Photography Awards 11. The works by Susanne Hefti, Alina Schmuch, Andrzej Steinbach and Malte Wandel exemplify the methodological variety and thematic interests of a young generation of photographers examining the political and social condition of our world. They engage with pressing questions of our time, with the history and present state of migratory movements, with the political fault lines of the twentieth century, which we can take a reading of by looking at Europe's cities, and with the question of what a person's habitus reveals about their identity.
