The Forum für Fotografie, Köln presents for a following year the German Photo Book Prize 2015, a touring exhibition as part of Stuttgart Book Week. This year the jury awarded 25 photo books with “Gold” and “Silver” distinctions, and recognized another 210 titles with the “Nominated 2015” designation.
Winners of the distinguished Photo Book Prize given out by the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels, Landesverband Baden-Württemberg [Association of German Book Dealers, Baden-Württemberg National Association] are photographers, authors, and editors who have engaged with and/or presented a photographic challenge especially well. Categories for the awards include conceptual/artistic photo book, photography history/theory, photo textbooks and coffee table books.
Coffee table books have a long tradition within the Anglo-American world. These illustrated, large format books are traditionally presented on a table beside the sofa. However, coffee table books are more than just decoration. They invite the observer to explore, presenting fascinating images within their pages. This award was first established as an individual category last year.
