2 SOLO SHOWS AND 1 SCREENING
Jason Loebs – Pierre-Yves Massot – Neïl Beloufa (Video Room)
23 February - 6 April 2014
Fri Art is pleased to announce the upcoming solo exhibitions of artists Jason Loebs (USA, 1981) and Pierre-Yves Massot (Switzerland, 1977), as well as the screening of movies by Neïl Beloufa (France-Algeria, 1985).
Jason Loebs' first institutional exhibition is built around the principles of thermodynamics as a means to analyze cultural production, and the ways in which natural resources are transformed by social organization into instruments of human control and value production.
On the first floor, Fri Art shows works of Pierre-Yves Massot, a respected photojournalist who decided to go back to university and finish his sociology degree. It was a process that took him down the path of philosophical enquiry, which led him to adopt a new form of autofictional practice and greater openness in his interpretations.
A programme of four recent video works by Neïl Beloufa is shown in the new "video room" in the basement of Fri Art. The movies challenge the expectations of the viewers and play with the representation.
