To celebrate our 25th anniversary, Frith Street Gallery is delighted to announce the reopening of our original space at 60 Frith Street, Soho Square, where the gallery first operated in 1989. Since opening, Frith Street Gallery has emerged as one of the art world’s most interesting forces, instrumental in developing the careers of internationally renowned figures as well as supporting those at earlier stages of their career. The reopening of the space marks our achievements to date and our quarter century.
The inaugural exhibition, Silver, will provide an elegant visual retrospective of the gallery’s history, featuring works made between 1989 and the present day. The exhibition will include some rarely seen and perhaps surprising pieces; early work by Tacita Dean, a painting from Marlene Dumas’ seminal MD-Light exhibition and an iconic work by Cornelia Parker amongst others, all displayed within the intimate setting of the gallery’s original 17th-century and contemporary spaces.
Silver is the first exhibition in a new programme at Frith Street Gallery, Soho Square. This will be a space for special projects from both gallery and non-gallery artists, a place for experimentation, complementing and running in parallel with our main space on Golden Square. We plan to stage four exhibitions each year at 60 Frith Street.
