ETERNAL SPRING

A lot is on the painter’s mind while he is painting – thoughts, which for the most part seem to have nothing to do with the final picture.

But maybe they do. Perhaps the painter’s thoughts and feelings do actually flow into the painting while he is painting. If this were true, environmental factors and the surrounding ambience would be decisive influences. By extension, the painter could be seen as procuring from his surroundings that which is beneficial to the painting. This implies that the painter’s responsibility consists of turning the painting process into an experience to be conveyed to the audience in the picture.

Now that spring is almost upon us, these ideas inspired HAGEL, accompanied by friends and psychoactive substances, to go out into nature and paint the sun’s rays as they hit the ground.

Let’s see if what they come up with is any good.
