ANASTASIA DOUKA
"Neck Less Dala"
A guided tour on the shortcut of objects
08.09.2007 – 06.10.2007
LORAINI ALIMANTIRI · gazonrouge is pleased to present Anastasia Douka’s first solo exhibition. Anastasia Douka’s set NECK LESS DALA is a restart (REBOOT). This time, the works do not stand silently behind a finger (MUGA), on the contrary they trigger that kind of ignition mechanism that will never be noticed. Everything constructed can break, be reconstructed and then break once again, creating, through continual coats, layers of materials (architecture, fantasies, skin, sponges, MDF) which are altered without hesitation, losing their primal face. It is the moment of signs-seeing when their history is radically transformed resulting in its sublation. However, everything seems/is tied together like a picaresque family that is heading towards Klondike in search of gold. Since the assemblages are mounted, they can be transported. Therefore, they can be carried on one’s back, be set up a bit further, or get useless: be left headless in the sunshine.
