“Volgograd”

May 14 - July 24, 2010

Loraini Alimantiri Gazonrouge is very pleased to present an installation by Anastasia Douka on the roof of our gallery building. For her new project VOLGOGRAD, Anastasia Douka builds a private chamber out of wood and paper pulp, a fridge – toilet that serves all stages of a ‘trance’ associated with an infl ated ego: stock of beers, pelvis (urination), sink (wash). A video projection on the wall, commemorates the Olympic Gold medallist and World Champion in fi gure skating Yevgeny Plushenko and his unexpected return this year to the ice-rinks, perhaps to redeem his reputation. Only that at the track of Volgograd, where he once made his fi rst steps as a child, he will fi nd nothing but mud.
The installation will open on Friday 14 May 2010 and will be accessible to the public during regular gallery hours until Saturday 24 July 2010.
