JOËLLE TUERLINCKX
"Night Cabin"
3 September through 31 October 2008
in front of the Karlskirche
Opening Reception: 2 September 2008, 5.30 p.m.
Night Cabin consists of a simple construction trailer parked on a public square—Vienna’s Karlsplatz. A text invites visitors to enter the space, an upside-down world of sorts in which day becomes night as though by magic. The Belgian artist Joëlle Tuerlinckx has realized her project Night Cabin a number of times since 1996, including during the Ljubljana Manifesta (2000), in cooperation with the Tate Gallery, London (2002) and with the Badischer Kunstverein, Karlsruhe (2004), and during the Busan Biennial, Korea (2004).
