The artist duo Jens & Morten won the EXTRACT prize in 2014. The recognition consisted of a travel grant in addition to a solo exhibition at GL STRAND, which the artist group now presents. The duo creates a challenging and accommodating installation under the title AGORA, where they focus on distance and sense of belonging in the digital age.
A large construction of industrial steel gratings form a chilly setting for objects such as industrial wiring boards and conveyor belts, atmospheric lighting and 3D-printed sculptural objects. Amidst all this, air-purifying indoor plants provide an atmosphere of something intimate, open and confidence-inspiring. In this complex mix of analog, industrial and digitally produced materials and natural elements Jens & Morten fantasize over how the exchange of thoughts and ideas in public space has undergone a change as a result of the ever-increasing importance of virtual reality and its intervention in physical reality.
The artist duo Jens & Morten consists of visual artists Jens Ardal and Morten Kromann. Jens Ardal (b. 1986) graduated from the Academy of Art in Oslo in 2012, and Morten Kromann (b. 1985) graduated from the Jutland Art Academy in 2014.
EXTRACT SOLO is mounted in collaboration with The Obel Family Foundation, which supports the solo exhibitions, the larger EXTRACT exhibitions and the prize throughout a three-year commitment.
