Karla Black has made a series of very small, thin, pink hanging sculptures out of polythene dust sheets, plaster powder, powder paint and thread. These sculptures are mini versions of the experimental works she has made in recent years in exploration of how thin a form can get before it can no longer be called a 'sculpture'.
Black has exhibited nationally and internationally, with solo exhibitions at venues such as the Migros Museum Zurich, Modern Art Oxford and Kunsthalle Nurnberg. More recently she showed major presentations of new work at the 54th Venice Biennale and the Turner Prize exhibition at the Baltic, Gateshead (both 2011). She graduated from the MFA programme at Glasgow School of Art in 2004.
