We inhabit the present space according to the past; at the same time, we create the past based on our present. Every building has a story—from the domestic to the public, from the individual to the collective—but it is always a story of a transitory nature, of what has been lived or staged. Inhabited Architecture, a presentation from the Collections of the Guggenheim Museums, invites visitors to reflect on the occupation of space as a place for narratives that have already been created or are about to be created by the viewer. Shown for the first time at the Guggenheim Bilbao, the works featured in this exhibition include Liam Gillick's How are you going to behave? A kitchen cat speaks (2009); Doris Salcedo's Untitled (2008); Mona Hatoum's Home (1999); and Pello Irazu's Life Forms 304 (2003).
