LEARNING THROUGH ART 2011

Visitors are held spellbound by the audacity and potential of the creative discoveries in this exhibition of pieces by schoolchildren aged 6 to 12. The works on display are the result of the involvement of several schools in the Basque Country with the eleventh Learning Through Art program, whose aim is to use art as a means to help children with their learning and encourage them to view the world in a creative and personal way.
Working in close collaboration with teachers at the various schools and the Museum’s Education Department, the children’s creativity will be fired this year by the artists Elssie Ansareo, Nadia Barkate, Naia del Castillo, Ibon Garagarza, Iñaki Gracenea, Joxerra Melguizo, Manu Muniategiandikoetxea, Ibon Sáenz de Olazagoitia, and Jorge Rubio, who will encourage them to apply the conceptual thought proper to artistic creation in activities ranging across various disciplines, including photography, painting, sculpture, video, digital art, and music.
