PHILIP GAIßER/NIKLAS HAUSSER (HAMBURG) AND TILL MEGERLE (BERLIN)
"Captivated Room 1"

May 21 - June 20, 2010

No questions to be resolved between questioner and respondent

»(...) and anything gestural?«

»An aesthetic category. It’s also wonderful to view the documentary approach as a style.«

»It’s a game ...«

»Yes. For. Sure. Symmetry, arbitrariness, boredom.«

In the Hamburg property market, the term »gefangenes Zimmer« refers to a room that can only be reached through other rooms. This corresponds to the visitor’s experience of the exhibition architecture, which is the same for all the projects in the series: a »White Cube« implanted into the magnificent, richly patinated former first-class waiting room which has been home to the Kunstverein since 2000. On each occasion, two artists are invited to use the new spatial setting for their work and energize it.
