TOMMY WHITE
SCULPTURE

4 October – 8 November
Opening Reception Saturday, October 4th, 6-8 pm

Harris Lieberman is pleased to announce the first exhibition of Tommy White’s sculptures. Initially conceived of as three-dimensional tools for rendering form and space in his paintings, the sculptures have become an important and distinct part of his work in the past several years. Like White’s paintings and drawings, these three-dimensional works are imbued with raw sensuality, beauty, and violence.
Constructed of a variety of materials: plaster, bronze, paint, and discarded bits of worn clothing, the sculptures will be installed hanging from the gallery ceiling. This highlights their relationship to the viewer’s body as well as their own carcass-like form.
Tommy White lives and works in New York. He received his M.F.A from Massachusetts College of Art.
