12 February – 13 April 2020
HENI Project Space presents a free exhibition of playful, musical works by Nevin Aladağ.
The exhibition – Aladağ’s first solo show in the UK – brings together a group of recent artworks that explore sound, rhythm and music.
These include the artist’s video work Traces (2015), a musical portrait of the urban landscape in Stuttgart, Germany, in which musical instruments are ‘played’ by elements of the city.
Session (2013) is a video featuring drums, bells and other percussive instruments from Pakistan, India and Iraq; and the sculptural work Tusch [Fanfare] (2015) features a pair of musical scores writ large on the gallery wall.
Between Wednesday 12 and Monday 24 February, Aladağ’s video Top View (2012), which captures the infectious rhythm of dancing feet, is on show in Hayward Gallery Foyer, adjacent to HENI Project Space.
Production support for Nevin Aladağ is provided by SAHA Association.
Nevin Aladağ was born in 1972 in Van, Turkey, and lives and works in Berlin, Germany. Her artwork has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions at institutions around the world.
She also participated in the 11th Istanbul Biennial (2009), Sharjah Biennial (2013), documenta 14 in Kassel, Germany and Athens, Greece, and the Venice Biennale (both 2017).
