THIS IS NOT A POP-UP: POLITE
11 December 2012 - 11 January 2013
Polite was founded in 2000 by Jack Jackson with a view to making the world of contemporary art and design more accessible by producing affordable but special objects, and as part of their 12th birthday celebrations, Polite is launching 12 new products at the Southbank Centre Shop at Hayward Gallery .
The shop also plays host to a series of events and signings.
This is your chance to pick up your Christmas gifts to the sound of classic Factory records with a promise of no tinsel or Christmas decorations (with the exception of a 9-foot balloon reindeer).
The new collaborations include -
- Morrissey and the Smiths by Kevin Cummins, who signs copies and talks about his work with the band on Friday 14 December at 1pm
- 'Thick as Thieves', a new publication by Scott King about growing up as a fan of The Jam and then getting the chance to interview his hero. Includes a signing by Scott King and a talk about music, art and design on Monday 17 December at 12 noon.
There are also new sets of postcards from Harry Hill and David Shrigley
Balloon toy cards by Studio Thomson
A box set of classic Factory graphics and design by Peter Saville, Jon Savage and other Factory people.
