In the exhibition series "Spot on ...", the ifa galleries presents cultural highlights from the African continent in Germany. "Spot on ... DAK'ART – 8th Biennial of Contemporary African Art" affords a view of the special features and of the activities of the biennial, which took place in Dakar, Senegal, in 2008. DAK'ART distinguishes itself by the connection of contemporary art and current African design. It is about self-reflection and an assessment of the current situation by the artists and designers. In collaboration with the artist and curator Akinbode Akinbiyi, the ifa gallery Berlin chose artists and designers from the Biennial's main exhibition which illustrate the high standard of contemporary African art. But the selected works also show how the artistic reflections are affected by Africa’s problems like migration, racism and war.

The exhibition is accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue, with essays by curator Akinbode Akinbiyi, Dr. Barbara Barsch, Julia Pattis und Prof. Dr. Maguèye Kassé.
