“...photographs showing a world which is not a home, either a house, nor a homeland; spaces like hotels, airplanes, football courts, tourist areas, and broadly speaking, lonely places or places where anyone would feel alone. In fact, most of the people appering in the fotographs, seem to be alone...”

Bernardo Atxaga, Spanish writer
abstract from the prologue of the book «Medio Tiempo»*

The exhibition “Medio Tiempo” includes photographs of Ernesto Valverde taken in different places and at different times, among which his life in Greece and his experience from what he calls the “Neverending Game”.

Ernesto Valverde has an innate passion for photography ever since his adolescence, and is taking photographs constantly since then. He does begin his career as a professional football player and moves into his coaching career, always holding a camera in his hands. He completes his studies at the IEFC (Institut d'Estudis Fotografics de Catalunya) in Barcelona and, while being a player at Espanyol and Barcelona football teams in the 1980s, he publishes a portfolio with photos of his team players in the Sunday ‘ supplement magazines of El País and El Periódico de Catalunya.

More recently, he has published on commission by El Pais, a series of photographs with the theme “football in the street” on occasion of the 2010 World Cup. His book “Medio Tiempo” is also being currently published in Spain.

This is the first time Valverde is showcasing his photographs to the public, and he has decided to do it so in Greece, as his personal tribute to the Greeks and the country in which he has lived unforgettable moments.

The proceedings from the photographs’ sales will be devoted to charities working with social groups specially affected by the crisis in Greece.
