"Postludios"

The Galería Javier López offers a selection of the most recent paintings by JOSÉ Ma YTURRALDE (Cuenca, 1942) titled Postludios, a series that closes the cycle comprising Preludios and Interludios, in clear reference to the organisation and definition of time (and consequently of space) in music, one of the most important influences for the painter, who has mentioned works by composers Hindemith and Morton Feldaman as key elements in his living experience.
In Postludios, his exploration of the limits of painting is focused on the spatial and expressive element that is colour in order to use chromatic values as subtle variables of light that act on our emotions and states of mind. Colour is the only protagonist of the surface of the canvas lines have stopped playing a leading role in a gradual process throughout the evolution of the three series that is now complete, making them visually nonexistent.
