DEBORAH BELL
"Crossings & Monuments Too"

Deborah Bell presents an exhibition of mixed media drawing… which evokes notions of shadowy imagery from a collective consciousness of humanity's distant past. The works are a natural extension of her recent "Sentinels", "Unearthed" and "Displacements" series, drawing on the heritage of ancient civilizations, but creating from them an evolving invented legend of our passage through history. Her figures deal with the cycles of birth, life, death and rebirth. She refers to her work as "silent images of different cultures and times that speak to me of an alternative history; and a spiritual language that we have lost; that haunt me... I see my figures as resurrections of ideas that we have forgotten".
