MARC CAMILLE CHAIMOWICZ
One To One
29 September 2017 - 7 January 2018

The artist Marc Camille Chaimowicz (* after World War II, Paris), who lives and works in London, began combining sculptures and performance in the 1970s and has worked between the categorical boundaries of “private” and “public.” His work is part of the tradition of art after the “social turn,” when art moved from the picture on the wall into social reality and its space. His work is characterized by the combination of different media such as sculpture, painting, drawing, and photography with elements from applied art and interior design. Chaimowicz uses these elements to create large-scale arrangements. These consist of wallpapers and furniture and feature delicate pastel tones such as dry lemon yellow, dusty pink, and powdery lavender. He often invites other artists to integrate their works into his furniture arrangements.

The Kestner Gesellschaft is devoting a comprehensive solo exhibition to Marc Camille Chaimowicz. This will be the first time that the artist’s works, which also include performances and installations, will be shown in Hanover.
