KONRAD FISCHER GALERIE BERLIN is pleased to announce the opening of an exhibition of previously unpublished works by Bernd und Hilla Becher on Friday June 26, 2009 from 6 to 9 pm.
Since the early 1960s, the Bechers have concentrated in their photographic works on the subject of industrial and profane architecture. At an early date they laid down particular parameters for their photographs. In the exclusively black-and-white pictures, the motif is nearly always depicted austerely from the front, whereby the line of the horizon is usually low and the lighting is homogeneous and undramatic. In Berlin we are glad to present 24 large single prints of water towers, gas tanks and cooling towers which have been executed from 1960 up to present day. The photographies are arranged in smaller und larger groups.
On Wednesday, June 24 2009, 8 pm the film "Die Fotografen Bernd und Hilla Becher" starts at the cinema Babylon, Rosa-Luxemburg-Str. 30, 10178 Berlin. Hilla Becher will attend the preview.
