CARL ANDRE
10 September - 5 November 2016
Since the first European exhibition of Carl Andre at Konrad Fischer in 1967, the gallery is looking back on a continuous series of exhibitions by the American artist. In the current presentation we are pleased to show two gas concrete works from the 1980s, Inner Piece and Outer Piece, together with a series of his Poems from 1963.
At the opening we will also present the catalogue of the exhibition Carl Andre – Satellites, 2015, with an essay by Eva Meyer-Hermann. On the occasion of Carl Andre's 80th birthday, five large outdoor works by the artist were shown by the Josef Albers Museum, Bottrop; the Museum Morsbroich, Leverkusen; the Langen Foundation, Neuss; Stiftung Insel Hombroich, Neuss and Skulpturenpark Waldfrieden, Wuppertal.
The most comprehensive retrospective of Carl Andre's work so far is on show at Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin, until 18th September. The exhibition, which has been shown at Dia Beacon, NY and the Museo National Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, will travel in October to the Musée d'art moderne de la Ville de Paris and then to the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
