FALL OUT – Desire and Disengagement in Contemporary Art
14 January – 21 February 2010
C-salen
The exhibition FALL OUT has been organised in collaboration with Gl Holtegaard and examines the system – and the nature of the breakdown of the system
What does it look like when systems change? This question is the theme of the winter’s exhibition FALL OUT at Malmö Konsthall. In their works, the participating artists examine how social, political and economic systems work – and what happens when systems change. When there is a ‘fall out’ as regards what is expected.
At a time, when such crucial systems as the economy and climate are under pressure, individual experience will be vital for our way of understanding things. By means of their works, the artists at FALL OUT highlight human dependence on structures and systems – whilst also making a critical comment on the myth of the independence of modern man.
Curators: Merete Jankowski and Mads Damsbo
Artists presented at Malmö Konsthall: Pavel Braila, Mircea Cantor, Kirsten Justesen,
Aleksander Komarov, Olivia Plender, Larissa Sansour, and Vinyl-terror & -horror
Artists presented at Gl Holtegaard: Sophie Calle, Janet Cardiff & George Bures Miller, Danica Dakić, Sharon Hayes, Kirsten Justesen, Aleksander Komarov, Olivia Plender, Larissa Sansour & Oreet Ashery, Simon Starling, and Carey Young
